Kelly’s work focuses on mission-driven design and strategic marketing that amplifies community voices and impact. First Time Home Buyer Training Our First Time Home Buyer (FTHB) classes are offered in partnership with the Merrimack Valley Housing Partnership’s Project Genesis (MVHP). CMAA supports the outreach, recruiting, and translation in Khmer Language for classes held on location at our office. MVHP provides the instructors, speakers and handouts. We are proud to make these classes accessible to a significant segment of the Lowell community that is unable to participate in other Home Buyer classes due to the language barrier. Purchasing a home is a complex transaction that requires much planning and preparation, including building good credit, saving for a down payment, working with a realtor to find a home that meets the family’s needs, negotiating a purchase price, applying for loans and evaluating competing loan offers, closing the loan, and then maintaining the home and family finances. Our First Time Home Buyer (FTHB) classes are offered in partnership with the Merrimack Valley Housing Partnership’s Project Genesis (MVHP) . He returns to support CMAA in January 2024 as the Mononom Family Support Program Manager. Sengly holds a Ph.D. in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources Policy and Management, earned through a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship at Cornell University. Dr. Kong has demonstrated profound dedication to community-based research and development in health and human services over the past decade. He coordinated two major projects funded by the U.S. government, addressing health disparities among Cambodian Americans. His notable accomplishments include spearheading a CDC-funded health promotion and education project aimed at reducing cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes risk factors. Additionally, Sengly led a NIH-funded study investigating the effectiveness of lifestyle interventions, specifically focusing on the "Eat Walk Sleep for Health" initiative. We are thrilled to have Sengly Kong on board, and we look forward to the valuable contributions he will make in advancing our mission.

ESOL Class (English for Speakers of Other Languages) In partnership with Frederick Assad Abisi Adult Education , CMAA’s English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes program provide opportunities for community members seeking to improve English language skills. ESOL Overview English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Classes are for adult learners whose native language is not English. - In order to register, students must reside in the Greater Lowell area and be at least 18 years old. - Photo ID and proof of addres s are required before starting classes. All instruction is in English. Reading, writing and speaking skills are taught. Students are grouped in Beginner, Low, Intermediate or Advanced classes according to their placement test scores. If you choose a class that is not available at your level, you will be asked to choose a different class. Class Schedule Options will be on the Registration Form. (There may be changes in classes due to circumstances beyond our control.)
