Improving the quality of life for Cambodian-Americans, as well as other minorities and economically disadvantaged persons in Lowell, MA through educational, cultural, economic and social programs. Connecting Generations, Creating Brighter Futures The Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association (CMAA) is a nonprofit committed to uplifting families and individuals in need. Through intergenerational connections, we're crafting a brighter tomorrow, empowering individuals and fostering lasting positive change within communities. Donate: Make An Everlasting Impact Today Our Story Beginning in the early 1980's, thousands of Cambodian fled their homeland to escape a communist regime and genocide and resettled in the City of Lowell and other cities throughout the U.S. For many Cambodian refugees, with limited resources, language barriers, and a lack of knowledge about local customs and culture, the resettlement process can be overwhelming. In 1984, Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association was founded to help alleviate these gaps and provide support to the Cambodian communities in the Greater Lowell as well as other areas in the US. Our services range from language translation to assisting with food and shelter resources to organizing community events that bring people together. We believe that by providing the necessary resources and support, individuals can achieve their fullest potential and create fulfilling lives in their new home.
