In celebration of Khmer New Year 2022, CMAA and partners are hosting a series of events in the month of April.
Welcoming the Khmer New Year Angel is one of them.
On the first day of 3 Khmer New Year Days – 14 April – Cambodians believe that the new year angels descend from the heavens of the Four Great Kings to bless them.
The leading angel of the year is called Keriny Tevi; the fifth daughter of Kbal Maha Prum, holding an Aankusha (Elephant Goad) on her left hand, a Vajra (Lightning Conductor) on her right hand, and riding an elephant as her heavenly transportation. The Angel will arrive on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 10:00AM ICT (Cambodian Time) or Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 11:00 PM (Eastern Time USA)in Lowell, MA.
Therefore, we would like to invite you to watch the ceremony prepared to welcome the arrival of the Angel “Keriny Tevi” on Wednesday, April 13, 2021 from 10:30PM to 12:00AM via Facebook Live and a watch party the following morning.
If this is your first time watching the ceremony,
– You will see how Khmer people set up the shrine to welcome the Angel
– You will be introduced in detail about the Angel
– You will also see a dance called “Boung Soung/Choun Por” to welcome the Angel and for us to receive blessing.
This event is free and open to everyone.
