Below is the transcript from what he shared in the above video. Thank you.
Dear family, friends, and colleagues,
It’s been quite a journey this year so far. I don’t know about you but I know for sure that the year 2020 is going down in history. From the COVID-19 pandemic to the outcomes of the Presidential Election, it has not been a quiet year.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, CMAA has helped over 1,500 families with food, hygiene materials, rental assistance, and more. Our office may have been closed to the public during the shutdown, but our staff and volunteers worked diligently throughout this time to ensure that those that are struggling aren’t forgotten and that we are able to bring some hope during these trial times.
We partnered with local grocery stores to provide culturally appropriate food, we teamed up with other nonprofits like UTEC to provide weekly food boxes, we were funded by friends at foundations (Greater Lowell Community Foundation, Fish Family Foundation, Yawkey Foundation, to name a few) to provide rental assistance to families at risk of losing their homes, and finally, we reallocated funds to other partners (Latinx Community Center for Empowerment – LCCE and New American Center) so that they can help community members they work with. These positive outcomes are through the ongoing partnerships we’ve been able to build throughout the years. Without them, we would not be able to do the important work that we have been doing and will continue to do.
Today, I invite you to join us as a partner and help us continue to provide for those in need. I invite you to witness performances from our youth, bid on exciting auction items (some from Cambodia), and be part of an evening full of community love and resilience.
I invite you to join us as a guest, a sponsor, a donor for our upcoming virtual event titled, Community Celebration “Together With A Purpose”, that will be taking place December 11 at 6:00 pm.You can register to attend the FREE EVENT, sign up for auction items, make a donation, and become a sponsor by visiting: https://one.bidpal.net/cmaa36
As you’re thinking about what your plans are for the evening of December 11 and whether or not you decide to join us, I would like to share this quote by Coretta Scott King – “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate action of its members.”This quote is reflective of all of you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a supporter and for all that you’ve done for our community and beyond.
